What is NSSE?

  1. A survey sent to second semester first year and second semester graduating seniors at over 1500 colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada.  Please watch for emails from that may be delivered to the spam folder of your email account (beginning Feb. 10).

  2. Purpose is to collect information about students' participation in programs and activities that provide for learning and personal development.

  3. Western will use the information collected to make decisions about the undergraduate experience inside and outside the classroom that can be improved through changes in policies and practices more consistent with good practices in undergraduate education.

The first 100 students to complete the survey will each receive one free t-shirt.

In appreciation of students' participation, all students completing the survey will be automatically entered in a random drawing to win one of five prizes worth $250. These include:

  • One iPad mini

  • Four Beats headphones

A student's chance of winning depends on how many students complete the survey; the last time we administered this survey, about 300 students responded. Based on this estimate, a student's odds of winning are 1 in 60.

Timeline for students to complete the survey

  1. The initial e-mail invitation will be sent around February 10, 2015.

  2. There will be several reminders throughout the semester.

  3. All surveys must be submitted no later than April 24, 2015.

  4. Prizes will be drawn on April 30, 2015.

Here are some reasons why a student should participate in NSSE

  • To make your voice heard

  • To improve the student experience for yourself and others at WCSU

  • To help WCSU leaders decide how to use scarce resources to improve teaching, learning, and other aspects of the student experience
